The first religious education place was built by the Ash’ari family and established Howzah for the first time in Islamic countries in the first century of Islam. After that, Imam al’Sadegh was informed about setting up this school and appreciated those people. With the pass of time, Qom Hozeh was more and more strong in spreading Islam and teaching religious sources to students, in this way, Imam al’Reza appreciated them and based a place known az “al’ Razaviyeh school”. After lady Fatima Mauma (A) was buried in Qom, all students in Hozeh get together near her shrine so that Qom was popular among Islamic countries and attracted many visitors from all over the world.
There is a famous person that should be mentioned here. Ahmad ibn Ishāq Ash`arī Qummī, deputy of the eleventh Imam, was appreciated because he has been seen the son of Eleventh Imam, al-Mahdi (A). In those days, Imam Al-Askari (A) suggested building a mosque in Qom known as "Masjid-e Imam".
In this city, there are some prominent figures in relation to religious matters. The first one is Shaykh Abū Ja`far Muhammad ibn Ali Bābawayh Qummī. This muslim man is called Shaykh Sadūq and reported that he is the result of prayers of twelfth Imam, A-Mahdi (A).
The other known figure is Shaykh `Abd al-Jalīl Rāzī. This person built ten Madrasah (school) in that time in Qom so that Hozeh was stronger little by little. The other appreciated man is Safavids that provided financial sources for building and improving Hozeh. Indeed, he set up some facilities for students and scholars in teaching and learning religious sources. As a result, it can be observed that Madrasah Faydīyah was constructed at that time.
Other well-known scholars of Hozeh are Mullā Sadrā Shīrāzī, Mullā Muhsin Fayd and Mullā `Abd al-Razzāq Fayyād, and Shaykh Bahā’ī. These persons passed a lot of time of their life in Hozeh and made a lot of effort in teaching religion. Hozeh gained a lot of interest and attention in Qajar's period. In that time, some prominent scholars managed Hozeh that are Grand Ayatollah Mīrzā Abū al-Qāsim Qummī, Grand Ayatollah Mīrzā Muhammad Fayd, and Grand Ayatollah Shaykh `Abd al-Karīm Hā’irī.
Grand Ayatollah Hā’irī gained a lot of appreciation at that time because he revitalizes Qom Hozeh and establishes a syllabus for learning and teaching. He made efforts in organizing classes, syllabus, examination and evaluation processes. He provided a uniform for students and suggested that all students should put on the formal dress in Hozeh.
In his time, almost 3000 students come to Qom for study. He has some famous students including Grand Ayatollah Shaykh Muhammad Ali Arākī, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Ridā Gulpaygānī, and Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhullāh Khomeini. One of the most prominent works of these scholars is setting up an eminent mosque called Masjid-e A`đam that is near to Masuma (A) shrine. After, Hozeh scholars gained victory in Iran and interest in the world; their activities in Eastern countries were increased.
